Micro needling processAt North Shore Medical Spa in Lake Success, New York, we offer Micro Needling, an advanced cosmetic treatment which rejuvenates the appearance and surface of the skin without the downtime of invasive procedures.

Micro Needling is also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) because it promotes the skin’s production of collagen. A tool with tiny needles is used to create small punctures in the top layer of the skin. This triggers the body to create new collagen and elastin, improving the texture and firmness of your skin, as well as reducing scars and stretch marks.

Our North Shore Medical Spa Micro Needling treatments are effective. Noticable results are expected gradually over 2-3 weeks. However, as the body continues to produce new collagen even after treatments, results can be seen up to 6 months after the procedures.

Realistic results of micro needling include the following:

  • Lessening of pore size
  • Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Lifting, tightening and revitalizing of skin
  • Decrease of stretch marks
  • Improvement of scar appearance
  • Diminishing of acne scarring

What to Expect:

Is it painful: Most of our patients at North Shore Medical Spa say the micro needling procedure feels like light scratching or tickling. However, we offer a numbing cream which can be applied prior to treatment to lessen the pain.

Recovery Process: Our 60-minute Micro Needling treatments are minimally invasive. After the procedure, there’s no need to take any time off work or daily activities. Although everyone’s body reacts differently, on average the skin is typically back to normal in color and swelling on the third day after treatment.

What to expect the days following the procedure:

Day 1: Red appearance and swelling is apparent.

Day 2: A Red or pink hue, like a sunburn, on the treated area is visible. Swelling may be more obvious than the previous day.

Day 3: The treated area may be light pink or back to normal. The swelling is usually nonexistent.

How Many Treatments: We typically recommend between 3-5 treatments depending on the goal of the therapies. Procedures are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to ensure the skin has healed.
